COLAB HOTWHEELS - F1 PACKAGING DESIGN

Project Overview
The mission was clear: capture the heart-pounding spirit of
Formula 1 and the timeless fun of Hot Wheels in one powerful package.
A design that speaks to both the racer’s ambition and the child’s imagination
fast, bold, and iconic., the visual direction and packaging
design by IvĂ¡n HernĂ¡ndez, graphic designer.
Challenge
Create a packaging concept that captures the adrenaline, precision, and prestige of Formula 1 while staying true to the playful, accessible spirit of Hot Wheels. The goal was to merge two powerful brand identities one elite performance, the other in childhood nostalgia.
Solution
I approached this as a design exploration focused on storytelling and balance. The structure and visuals were guided by Formula 1’s sleek sophistication, while color, energy, and layout retained the bold excitement that defines Hot Wheels. Every element.
Results
The final concept delivers a visually striking and cohesive packaging system that elevates Hot Wheels into a collector-worthy experience without losing its mass appeal. It stands as proof that even within tight retail constraints, smart design can unite two worlds, performance and pure play.





Retail Visual Coherence
Retail visual coherence ensures products stand out while still belonging to a unified system. This special edition uses a clear lineup and bold differentiation to highlight the F1 collaboration at shelf level. Consistent structure combined with unique color cues creates immediate recognition and hierarchy. The result is a stronger presence in retail, where the collaboration feels premium, intentional, and collectible.
